Genesis of the
Bush Buddy and Oh Kerry
Vibrating Massage Wands
Seeing
how election fever has gripped America and the relatively boring campaigns of
John Kerry and George W. Bush, SiliconSlave thought that it would have a little
fun and add some excitement to the election. We contemplated nominating these
candidates for a Dildo of the Month award based on their uninspiring debates
with far too many rules, but liability is a little high to actually market a
the candidates as Dildos. With new conservatism running wild we decided it
would be best to turn the candidates into the next best thing Vibrating
“Massage Wands.” We felt this would be as good a political statement as any
and to be fair we gave each candidate equal attention to detail when designing the
Massage Wands. The following is the progression of the Oh Kerry and Bush Buddy
Massage Wands from concept art to finished product.

Clay is
then fired in a kiln until hardened.
Clay is
given final prep work to remove any burrs or artifacts.
Hardened
model has several coats of silicone applied to it over a few days until
sufficiently thick for use as a mold.

Silicone
mold is peeled off model and then reversed. It should be an exact negative of
the model at this point.

Vibration
egg is suspended in mold and resin is poured in. The resin is similar to the
plastics used to make regular toys.

Once the
resin hardens, the toy can be removed from the mold. Any flashings are gently
removed.

The toy
is now primed and painted. This is a lengthy process as all painting is done
by hand.

Now that
everything has been painted and the artists are happy with their coloring, a
protective clear coat can be applied to seal the paint and provide an extra
level of durability.

As you
can see it is a fairly intensive process to make each massage wand. In the
future if demand for such products is great enough, SiliconSlave can move to an
injection molding process; that should significantly reduce the cost of the
toy. However to get the color right, the toy will still need to be
hand-painted.

Also if
you are interested in it we are contemplating customized toys such that we can
make one or more toys featuring the likeness of someone that you submit via a
photo. If interested drop us a line. Customized toys would make excellent
bachelorette party gifts (perhaps her fiancé or perhaps an ex-lover – it is up
to you).
