It was time to break out of the lab and make the annual pilgrimage to AVN's Adult Entertainment Expo 2006. For SiliconSlave this is an ideal time to meet new manufacturers and producers of adult products, whether they be DVDs, sex toys, and the always fun - other... The stars were shining brightly on display for all to see. There is time for industry insiders to meet, interview, and photograph as well as time for fans to meet the stars. Of particular interest to me was what type of new products that I could get into my lab to run through their paces.
Products ran the full gamut from desensitizing lotions, lubricants, anime, to the odd and zany (think Clown Porn). Some of the new sex toys I seen on display included ceramic dildos that could also qualify as art as well as what appears to be a cross between a pogo-stick and a walking-stick that was adapted to hold a vibrator. To help with performance in the bedroom, there were also some interesting products claiming to help with ejaculate volume and what could be described as herbal-Viagra (with a claim of no side effects).
At the show, I was able to meet-up with Digital Playground and PurePlay Media to get some extra special content. SiliconSlave has interviews with Joone, Janine, and Teagan Presley of Digital Playground fame as well as coverage of PurePlay Media's party at Tao. I was also able to establish contact with Wicked and Spice, so expect to see some reviews of their productions in the near future.
AVN Adult Entertainment Expo is a fan's dream come true. For many this is about as close as a fan will ever get to an adult star. Whether it be an existing favorite or some new up and coming star, everyone was on display posing their heart's out. There is no shortage of opportunity to meet actors and actresses. There is even a Gay section for those into that sort of thing with plenty of guys to meet. What is great about this show is how professional and friendly the talent is and how willing they are to please the fans. Want a shot of yourself next to an actress on a bed, there is that opportunity. Want to get a sample of some new video release, you can get that too. Want a discounted visit to a local brothel, menus and coupons are available for the taking. If it is anything to do with adult entertainment, it is on display and vendors are more then willing to talk to you about what they are doing.
Whether it be enjoying some pole dancing, checking out the latest video offerings, meeting interesting people, or just hearing some great music - AVN Adult Entertainment Expo had it all going on. If you have never attended an adult event and are thinking about something fun and different to do that exposes you to a whole new exciting culture, then this is one show that deserves your attendance.
